Dr. Felix graduated summa cum laude with a degree in biology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi academic honor societies. Dr. Felix completed Masters Degrees in Ecology and Range Management, and worked as a field biologist in Alaska prior to pursuing a medical career.

Dr. Felix completed medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle. She was an Alaskan student completing portions of her medical training in Alaska. She completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During residency, she was awarded the Mark B. Coventry Clinical Research Award for outstanding research in orthopaedic surgery for her study of tibia fractures following total knee replacement. She was awarded a trip to Switzerland to observe surgery with internationally known orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Reinhold Ganz. She completed a rotation in Sports Medicine in Minneapolis with the team doctors for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Vikings, and a rotation in Pediatric Orthopaedics at Nemours Children’s Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.

Following residency, she had the opportunity to travel to New Zealand to work with Barry Tietjens, the team physician for the All Blacks, New Zealand’s national rugby team. She completed a fellowship in knee surgery, including arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, and total knee replacement. She completed a second fellowship in sports medicine, knee and shoulder surgery with Lonnie Paulos during the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dr. Felix is a former marathon runner, and has competed in marathons around the country and in New Zealand. She has won the Equinox Marathon in Fairbanks, Alaska, Mayor’s Marathon in Anchorage, Alaska, and the Maui Marathon in Hawaii. She also enjoys sailing and cross-country skiing.
